>>556>>557I used to spend much of the time from 2005 to 2010ish surfing eBay for collectibles, and I think there was a listing for a rare prototype sketch from their space theme listed more than once but it was too expensive. LEGO's monopoly on building blocks is as tight as ever, but I always thought the clone brands were pretty interesting. I wonder what a construction maestro who grew up with Mega Bloks would be like. I think all children deserve construction toys, and it's kind of cool if it came from your own country instead of say China. The few LEGO sets I saw at a large bookstore in a third-world country I visited were marked up 300-400% in USD!

>The few LEGO sets I saw at a large bookstore in a third-world country I visited were marked up 300-400% in USD!Yeah, if they are considered expensive in the first world, here in the third world its even worse. I had two really small sets and that was it. Since i stopped playing with them, i gave them to some poor children from the favela when my family moved homes about two years ago, along with all my other toys. I don't have any regrets, it was only a few pieces so i was unable to build anything interesting anyway.
>>562Its perfect, mate.
Since we're talking about LEGO, check THIS out. If i had this many bricks, i would have kept them all, but i think i only had 20 or 30, not even 50.

>>561>>563>>564Damn, you guys really triggered my autism.
When I was a kid back in the 90s my Mom used to bring me some LEGO stuff each time she came back from weeklong business trips and also as birthday presents. However, neither she nor my Dad seemed to understand the concept or aesthetic value of sets or themed collections, so each time it was a little piece of a different theme - once a bulldozer from construction works set, another time a motorboat from a harbour set, next a pirate landing party, a spacepod, a medieval carriage, a techno car, etc., the main reasoning being "But you already have X! Why do you need something practically the same? Here, take something different."
Still I was happy with what I could get, since my parents were far from being richfags, and my autism was only budding at that age. So instead of feeling depressed about never being able to complete a theme, I just spent hours browsing through though printed LEGO catalog brochures, imagining that I had full sets, not just a piece of each.
Sorry for this rant, guys. It's just that I mostly left "material" kind of hobbies like this (collecting stuff, etc.) behind a long time ago - now all my obsessions are purely digital/informational, so it was a kind of a "blast from the past" for me, triggered some memories and feels connected with them, mostly fuzzy ones.
Also made me wonder whether I'd still be collecting LEGO (or similar) stuff and sperging out over it if I could afford it now (meaning, if I weren't a lazy poorfag hikkiNEET). Maybe.
Maybe.

Bionicle anon, how do you feel about the Bionicle ideas set being rejected? I think in many ways its for the best, as if it was produced Lego would use it as an excuse to finally 'rid' themselves of it. I get the feeling Lego has become more hostile to Bionicle over time, especially with the half-assed CCBS nonsense.
No.742
>>741I don't remember posting about it, so it's interesting to see that someone besides me was keeping track of it
unless I did post about it and just forgot. I didn't really expect it to go through no matter what success it had, but I think that it's good that it got the attention it did. I think that at the end of the day you're probably right, and that had it been approved Lego would just leave Bionicle with that set. It would have been a nice sendoff, but it wouldn't have been what Bionicle deserves. It's easy to say that it obviously wasn't going to be approved in retrospect, but I'm still mad at myself for having any hope that it would work and that the greedy faggots that run Lego would do something worthwhile for once. I guess all I can say is that it's an insult, Lego Ideas has its focus to the retarded manchildren that buy legos as "collectors items". Nothing that doesn't have a huge name behind it gets a chance on Lego Ideas, besides a fucking typewriter, which is the only one out of the three approved sets that I'm not insulted by its existence. Seriously, who wants a fucking Seinfeld Lego set? Is there really a market for Home Alone Lego? Neither of these fanbases are the type that would cross over with Lego fans. What a fucking joke. They're choosing shit based on what will look good to the assholes in retail stores. If a manager of a Target or whatever picks up a set with "Bionicle" on the box, he'll go "Isn't that the thing that didn't sell back in 2016?" but if he sees something with "Seinfeld" on the box his retarded blobby brain will get tickled with a little dopamine rush of recognition, and he'll spend the rest of the day ending every sentence with "not that there's anything wrong with that" and other obnoxious bits.
Bionicle doesn't deserve this sort of cold shoulder that Lego gives it, but the fans absolutely do. They're the autistic faggots that made sure that Bionicle died with g2. No one bought the fucking sets, even though despite being ccbs they were the best ccbs sets that Lego has put out, and they probably won't do any more ccbs or any sort of constraction ever again. No wonder no greedy businessman is going to do anything with Bionicle, they might lose 1% of the profits focusing on that instead of their much more lucrative "Ninja pirates in space" line, or "Drill monster-fighters from mars" or any of their retarded licensed sets. Anything safer than Bionicle. Bionicle takes effort, it takes 3d designers, writers, and concept artists. All the other shit just takes one bored guy willing to recreate a scene from Avengers that no one remembers and a few recolors, at the most they need someone to design a new hair piece for whatever shitty tv show trash they pick up. A solid 99% of Lego sets, especially these days, only are worth anything for the pieces. When they're so set for cash why would they ever take a risk on the autists that spend all their time arguing about what pieces a moc should use, or about how much they love or hate the TTV autists. What a fucking shitshow on both ends. Feels like I'm the only one with a fucking brain in his skull sometimes, and here I am rambling about something I never really expected to perform well anyways so maybe I'm just as retarded. It was cucked at the finish line for no reason, except for all the reasons that everyone knew would cuck it but ignored. It was cucked by Home Alone no less, and fucking Seinfeld. And no one should be surprised, everyone knows their part in why Bionicle died and why it's probably never coming back beyond some fan projects that the scummy degenerate genderbending egotistical high horse fucks running TTV give their blessing to. What a bunch of spiteful no good faggots. If there's any downside to the fact that canonization contests are back, it's that those idiots are running the show. At least that can't change the quality of what gets submitted.
Fuck me why do I expect anything more from anyone. At least the fan games are good, there's hopefully no way that those can get fucked up. Those are the one thing that give me hope. Both Quest for Mata-Nui and Masks of Power look amazing.
Sorry for sperging out so hard, my autism flared up here. I'll post a few pictures of what I'm currently working on to make up for it. The silver/gray one is the only one that I'd consider finished, I still plan on improving the arms and legs of the other ones since they're skinny and basic right now. Been trying to focus on poseability and stability, I noticed that a lot of my stuff puts a lot of weight on a few pieces, making them bend or break. No.743

Seriously, who wants a fucking Seinfeld Lego set? Is there really a market for Home Alone Lego? Neither of these fanbases are the type that would cross over with Lego fans. What a fucking joke.Ideas is all kinds of broken. The biggest problem with it is that the majority of people use it like Flickr, Brickshelf, or MOCpages in that they use the support button as a like button and don't buy these sets when they hit stores. Then you have the stupid 10% cut of the sales or whatever it is, so all projects on Ideas are massively bloated so the greedy bastard behind it can scrounge as much as possible. And yeah, the crowd that want x or y licensed Lego set seem to be either fans of the property first and therefore don't care about how the license affects Lego, or they're the type of person who only buys the sets to display.
>Bionicle doesn't deserve this sort of cold shoulder that Lego gives it, but the fans absolutely doI'm not that aware of the Bionicle fanbase, but what I have seen they're very closed and clique-y. There's a group that act like they are the leaders of the entire Bionicle community in general and the community is there to stroke their ego. You kind of get this with Lego communities, but for some reason it's really rampant in the Bionicle fanbase. Personally when fan communities are like that I just avoid them altogether so I can still enjoy it without faggots like that ruining it for me.
Some sweet builds by the way, I'm really digging the one on the left. Do you plan to draw these?

>As a side note since I brought up the gender shit, is it weird to anyone that only water...was female?Speaking as someone who has only got into Bionicle in recent years, I'm not too bothered by it though I've always found females in Bionicle odd. It would work better if females were exclusive to one specific element or if they were less common than males because, as you say, it would add an interesting dynamic to the story and change how the other elements interact with them. The idea of having a 50:50 mix in each element is plain boring and doesn't affect the world in any meaningful way, though from what little I have seen of the Bionicle community there are a few vocal 'characters' that project their own opinions through fourms and the like onto Bionicle and expect other people to agree or follow suit.
Kind of like the recent canonisation contest which was an absolute farce. The outcome was already decided by a group of cliquey, power-tripping fags . No.938
>>937>>937>charactersEljay is a prime example of the worst aspects of the 'tism. I respect his knowledge of the lore but any sort of theme or message intended by the stories completely misses him, though that can probably be applied to all the TTV retards. Especially the fucking female Lewa shit from that shitty G3 project. Putting aside the fact that minifigures are completely inappropriate for capturing the look of Bionicle, and make the Toa look like normal guys, Lewa's character was meant to be a sort of trickster archetype. As far as I'm concerned that's an explicitly male role and changing that shit is incredibly gay. Even regardless of that it comes back to what I said earlier where if you change the way it is then gender becomes completely pointless and then they might as well be agender or something, which would be more interesting than their gender just being like normal people. I'm tired of people humanizing the Toa Mata especially, since they were meant to be tribal gods where the tohunga would make legends of them and treated them with extreme reverence. Though it's also entirely possible that Eljay just likes the idea of fucking Lewa and doesn't want to be called gay for it.>canonisation contestHonestly I'm just happy that the MOC they went with wasn't ten feet tall with a million misprints that the guy got after sucking off some Lego employee. Although maybe that would have been better than an emaciated Onua with no way to properly pose. I don't really care about the results themselves though, I mostly enjoy the MOCs that come out of it and the way that it encourages people to do their best, and seeing the different ways people interpret one character is fun. That's why I was excited for it anyways. I don't love TTV but I'd rather see the contest happen there than not at all, and since Farshtey can't go on BZP the next best thing is there. Pics related were my personal favorite entries.
The result for the mask design/art contest was shit too, looks like a mechanical version of the Kanohi Rau. The artwork they went with does have a nice G1 comic look to it but it's not as polished as it should be. It looks like a knockoff Stuart Sayger piece. I remember there was one image in the style of MNOG that was pretty cool, I feel like that would have been good to use. There was better stuff but overall I'm not infuriated. I don't really worry myself with the gay details of the contest and TTV's clique faggotry, I just like looking at it from the sidelines and enjoying the MOCs that come out of it. Gay shit is to be expected from pretty much any forum. So long as the result isn't horrible I wouldn't complain about it. Picking out a bunch of "fraudulent accounts" by hand is incredibly retarded though, if they're going to mess with the results they could at least try to look less suspicious about it.

>>876>>937>is it weird to anyone that only water...was female?>(water being naturally gentle, meaning it suits the ideal female). Sort of like how the earth element was associated with wisdom and knowledge or fire with valor. Pretty much the only element with feminine traits was water so it made sense for it to be the female one.I don't know much about Bionicle other than once reading about how its inspired by Polynesian religion and folklore, but water has been considered a female element since ancient times, and in many esoteric traditions. Poseidon is the only male deity associated with water that I know of, and even that is not his sole association, he has other aspects to him.
