Never heard anything from 'Trouble' before, but it was a very enjoyable song, even if I am not usually the greatest adept of doom metal. There's certainly something special about 80's metal. I don't known musical theory or anything of the sort, but riffs and voice feel kind of "drier" (in a good way), while the overall composition feels a little amateur-ish (again, in a good way).

In any case, I'm glad to see somewhat of a resurgence of that old style, named by some NWOTHM (New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal). It is not exactly the same -and it shouldn't be after 30 years-, but the similarity I feel it to be there:

A mood which I don't feel is replicated in their later albums.

If you can suffer the elitism and the general culture of 4chan, /mu/ is occasionally worth checking out if there is a thread up for genres or themes you like. I think that their elitism and contrarianism can sometimes lead to the discovery of truly hidden gems. Regarding DS specifically, Bandcamp is its natural environment; sometimes in /mu/ there are winter threads (December) dedicated exclusively to DS.

Normally I just search for similar bands/sounds or if I'm dipping my toes into the genre I look up the more popular bands and start from there. Websites devoted to a specific genre or sub-genre can be useful (I know it's taboo on imageboards these days but Reddit seems to have a community for every sub-genre). As others have pointed out though I avoid /mu/ because they seem to be filled with contrarians and people who like things ironically (apparently liking things "unironically" is bad now).

Fuck, forgive me Modmin but it looks like I'm going to have to triple post just this once. I'm extremely tired, stressed out due to problems at home and I was distracted by trying to conserve characters and I forgot an important part right at the end of my post. I should have written in this in the previous post where I finished it up but the exhaustion and the stress made me completely forget about it.

Mid 2021 to now: Right after leaving the online society I was a part of, I tried killing myself yet again by swallowing some old clonazepam pills there were still lying around since 2013. I always have been reluctant to try suicide by drugs due to how many reports of failed attempts there are, but I was miserable and desperate enough that I just faced the high chance of failure and gulped them all down while listening to Esprit by Esprit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pApIwI3Nic . I went to bed and waited for the unconsciousness and drift off into death as the song played through my earbuds and tears ran down my face. I blacked out but unfortunately woke up in the next morning feeling woozy, but fine. I never had a more miserable morning in my life. I think it's a defensive measure because going over the bad memories all the time (which happens anyway) is psychologically harmful. Normalfags remember the good parts too but we have to imagine them. It's pretty bad when there's nothing there that's worth remembering.

I'm not from the US but the translated version of this song reminds me of when I was in kindergarten where they made us sung it.
