Do you think he would be happy if he saw the otaku culture today?

Did he truly achieve his goals in the end?

Probably not, but it's interesting to think about what older Otaku's must think about the current culture.

From what I gather from older western anime fans (90s) I know a lot of them wanted more people to enter into this culture and some saw it as inevitable as it grew larger and larger, but I imagine the west and east had different ideas for what they wanted anime to be. Although, I can easily see people mad that it's become *too* mainstream and anime isn't what it used to be.

Hard to say overall though.

I was an anime fan back in the 90s, and we wanted it to go mainstream so badly. It was a big deal if there was any sort of acknowledgment from normie publications on anime.

Then it did so it stopped mattering and now I'm old, jaded, and bitter about the youth.

Honestly anime should've stayed underground. I hate when the U.S. tries to imitate Japanese animation and writing styles.

What a coincidence, because I hate when Japan tries to imitate U.S. animation and writing styles.
