Welcome to the Nintendo general. Whether its to discuss new & old releases alike you've been playing, speculate on matters relating to the Switch 2, or simply share Nintendo related time capsules of the current or bygone eras, you are welcome to post in here. Romhacks & fangames are also welcome!

>Useful resources & info

Nintendo ROMs are available on https://myrient.erista.me/files/No-Intro/ (Collections may also be available on archive.org & nyaa.si)

Nintendo's latest direct on April 17th unveiled the return of Battle Mode (though only 2 modes, Coin Runners & Balloon Battle, are present), byte sized missions can be found throughout the open world, as well as medals & panels. Their use remains unknown.

If you have any inquiries or suggestions to add to the next OP, or information & resources of your own you'd like to share, please do!

Thank you for your consideration, and have a boo-tiful day!

Perhaps it'll pick up some steam around here eventually. I never hanged around the nintendo generals all too much but I felt a gap needed to be filled.
I pray that we get multiple City Trial maps. Been emulating the mode & its so fun to just play for a bit. I swear Target Flight pops up way too frequently.

You should definitely try out Killer 7. Its unconventional control scheme is very neat & it arguably is Suda51's magnum opus, an elegant mix of campy yet intriguing, very quotable. Its best played with a GCC as the game was supposedly designed with the controller's large A button in mind, which you use for movement, of all things.
Nintendo Puzzle Collection has the cancelled version of Panel de Pon 64, as well as Dr.Mario 64 & Yoshi's Cookie. If you've played the more popular international releases like Tetris Attack or Pokémon Puzzle League, but want them in a cute world, you'll be right at home.
Kururin Squash is a puzzle game where you control a blue stick that's constantly spinnin, and you have to find how to squeeze by areas, dodge obstacles, and all that. The game is very laid back & cute, but also has times to beat if you're itching for the perfect run.
Custom Robo has a pretty funny story mode to go through and pits you against one or several opponents. The "custom" part is definitely the highlight as you can really make the robot that caters to your playstyle or opponent. Its a tad more accessible than a fighting game but still offers depth, setplay & combos for those willing to dig.
If you've got a squad to play with (or even on your own), I really recommend Mario Party 4 Deluxe: https://gamebanana.com/mods/546878
This modded version of the game comes with a lot of neat items to enhance the board play, as well as general improvements to the game's pace to make it a little faster. A must try for netplay!
As for more classic recommendations i'll rapid fire, the Pikmin games are really worth experiencing for their beautiful areas, great soundtrack that shifts depending on various elements, and iconic setpieces that are best left not spoiled as you figure them out, possibly panic & lose a bunch of your little army, or come out victorious & feeling great.
F-Zero GX is arcade racing at its finest, with easy to pick up controls & hard to master, challenging that never feels unfair. The sheer precision of the gamecube controller & its notches are best appreciated on Sega AM2's titles, which are the aforementioned F-Zero GX, but also the 2 Monkey Ball games.
JRPG fans don't have the widest buffet out there, but it'd be foolish to skip out on Tales of Symphonia's simple, but heartfelt adventure, Baten Kaitos' stunning visuals & unique card based battle system, or Skies of Arcadia's wonderful setting.

Any game that started life as a dreamcast game is at least fun. Kirby Air Ride doesn't seem like it has much right off the bat but City Trial mode carries the whole game on its back. So fucking addictive.

Wind Waker's a classic, you're good on that. I also recommend Eternal Darkness, one of the best Lovecraftian horror games you're likely to find out there. Cel Damage was also in its best iteration in the GCN, any "complete" version nerfed the core fucking mechanic of insta-deaths. It'll frustrate the fuck out of you but that's the fun.

Apart from that, maybe Bomberman Generation, has actually a pretty robust single player mode and a really fun multiplayer. Underrated classic.

Apparently the in-box grip for the Switch 2 doesn't have the back buttons, only the charging grip that you have to buy separately.
Bit disappointed.
