Hello.
I will host a game of Marathon Phoenix with Touhou sprites Saturday, June 28th at 5:00 EST. This is similar to the DOOM co-op games if you ever played that. Though, this can only accommodate 8 players total ingame, unlike modern net DOOM.

This is an old game with an old engine so a few things are needed to be done before joining for the best experience. A lot of these settings cannot be changed while ingame:
- Run Aleph One.exe and select Preferences>Player. Change your name here and choose a color if you like. I recommend checking the box "Show crosshairs". Default Marathon never had one, but this scenario plays a bit better with it on.
- Back within Preferences, in "Graphics" select the following options: Make sure that "Overlay map" is checked on. Select "Rendering Options".
- Within Rendering Options select "Advanced". Make sure texture filtering for "Walls, Landscapes, and Sprites" are set to "none" for near.
- Within "Graphics" There should be 2 different HUD styles, in the section "HUD Plugin". I recommend "Enhanced HUD" as that has a correctly aligned crosshair. Change the setting "HUD Size" to make it fit; "Largest" should work. This somewhat dependent on your resolution. You can change the resolution in game with F1 and F2 keys.
- IMPORTANT!: Back within Preferences, go to "Controls" and UNCHECK the option "Auto re-center view". Mouse feel should be set to modern. Select "Mouse Advanced" and change to your preference. I like sensitivity about 0.050 or less for X and Y. Then use higher mouse DPI values to compensate for a smoother mouse look. "Raw Input Mode" checked as well. Back within "Controls", select "Move" tab on the top and set "Run/Swim Behavior" to "Always Run Hold to Swim" . Look over the rest of the keybindings within "Controls" and change to preference. By default, "Tab" is the interact key, and the key to respawn when dead. "\" key to chat while ingame.
- To test your settings, go the main menu and press "Ctrl+Shift+N". Select the map "3 - Nottingham Lace" to test your settings.
Joining:
- Select "Join Network Game" in the menu. Change your player name, else it defaults to your computer name. Color too if you like. Then select "Find Internet game" (you might get a notice to update Aleph One, ignore that).
- Find the lobby that has "Phoenix 1.4.2 Touhou Coop Edit" in the name or something like that and join the lobby.
- IMPORTANT!: once joined in, change the chat type to "Joiners". It's the text above the lobby chat box. CLICK ON IT to change it. Else, you will chatting to random people in a public chat.
There is no join in progress in this. The host will have to back out and remake the player lobby if someone drops, wants to join in (if there is space), or something breaks. As stated this only supports 8 players and I cant really do anything about it, so sorry in advance if you lose a spot. This is hosted on pacific coast U.S.A. If you live on the other side of the world and have a spotty connection, then desyncs or lag might make the game unplayable for you.
