Imo, I feel like it's better to avoid making too many boards on small websites like this so discussion doesn't get split up and make the site feel even slower. There's already a media board with some threads vaguely like you describe (Japanese horror movies, Hong Kong action movies)

I was thinking of running an occasional stream for classic Japanese movies, jidsigeki, and other movies from around the world but wap streams are dead and the /kind/ stream has only a small number of viewers.

Realistically speaking, anime is pretty much always going to have a greater draw among people who use those websites compared to live action movies. That doesn't mean I wouldn't like to watch one sometimes, but if you're interested in getting more viewers I think it would be an uphill battle. (Looking at the active threads on this website, the only talk about live action recently is the adaptation of an anime)

Aside from that, I think keeping a consistent schedule and advertising would probably result in a larger audience. >>3594

I'd include some anime but they would have to be full features or OVAs instead of whole series, unless they are short. I guess the hardest part is simply getting enough people to come along. And I don't want it to be yet another anime stream that runs the kind of anime you could see anywhere else.

There's almost no place to talk about old live action japanese films. You can see here someone made a rather thoughtful well articulated post on /tv/, and it got a whopping 2 responses before dropping off the map. Probably less than 10 people have ever read this post.

I also utterly adore trashy Japanese cinema as well as what might be considered more serious art. I love it all. It's the same kind of impulses for animation.

Same. I guess we could create a thread for it on wap? So far, I haven't found enough people to justify a Japanese movie stream, although I've attempted it, but I guess a thread here is a start? The only issue is generating enough activity. The problem with Wap is the chronic feeling that nobody will ever reply to your post.
