>>2564That topic is one of the most taboo ones these days. Reminds me of a post declaring lolis to be a symbol of free speech.
Though I feel it's a bigger issue in America than in Europe or elsewhere. I had a classmate who had an 11-year-old girlfriend when he was 17 or so, and while his friends would sometimes tease him about it, they didn't stop being his friends over it.

>>2368>4Chan wasn't created for free speech activists.supporting free speech was the default position of 200x internet users. Anonymous posting representing the highest form of freedom of speech because you could say what you want without being personally criticized.
zoomers really dont understand just how far the political compass has moved over the past 20 years. It use to be that libertarians/leftwingers/all the fringe groups desperately supported the idea of free speech while the right wing (the dominant group at the time) low key suppressed it. Then when the left took power in 2008, and even more so in 2012+ they started the whole 'freedom of speech doesnt mean freedom from consequences' meme, and free speech started being killed off because our corporate overlords much prefer a world in which you just silently consume whatever they provide you with, never questioning or criticizing anything.

The only thing from 4chan I'm missing is /wsg/, specifically the comfy threads. I have a place to talk about modern anime. I'm not watching Gavv, Gozyuger, or Gcucks, so I can do without /m/ for the time being. I would shitpost in the Destiny general but the game is so dead, there's little point.

>>2564Whats really interesting to me is that the jannies didnt have a strict code of conduct, as in they enforced the rules as they saw fit and each had their own interpretation of the site rules. For example /gif/ was the most chaotic board on that hellhole, with the most amount of schizo spam like the fligugigu ylyl threads, the bbc and trap threads, the sissy hypno spam and as of late indian-ragebait threads etc…. and the janny did nothing to stop it.NOTHING.NADA.
However i once started a music thread on /gif/and it was instantly moved to /wsg/! we are talking about warp speed here.its like the janny was waiting for me to press send so Xe could move my thread and make room for more fligu threads.
Same with /tv/,the janny was very fickle.
>discussing actual movies? Warning,ban,permaban
>Making a thread about sydney sweeneys tits for the umpthteen time? Crickets
And on /trv/ we had an indian janny who would permaban anyone who spoke ill of his precious subcontinent. This was proven fact btw.
Also as a sidenote i dont understand the american obsession with pedophilia, abortion and sex in general.

This kind of mentality is extremely deranged. In all my years of posting on 4chan not once did I ever see anyone ever say:
>hey, this board is not safe for work so…. all your content cant be safe for work lmao
>Also as a sidenote i dont understand the american obsession with pedophilia, abortion and sex in general. It's a consequence of millenials failing to have lots of kids. So what happenedin the usa was, the baby boomers were the last 'big generation' with large families. And they were a very selfish generation that engaged in a lot of drugs and sex and birthcontrol, which resulted in lower birthrates. They also refuse to give up power so it took longer for gen-x, their kids, to have kids of their own. Gen-x normalized the idea of starting a family in your late 20s and early 30s in the USA. When it came time for the millenials, millenials were basically taught that "you will work hard, pay off all your debts, then you can have all the young teen pussy you want in your late 20s/early 30s' because gen-x also didnt want to give up power and let millenials have oppertunities. It was kind of a trick, but since millenials grew up with internet porn they fell for it. Finally, millenials have kids but they are having them in their 30s and even 40s… which means their family size is typically 1.
What does this mean? It means zoomer kids grew up with no sibblings. They interacted exclusively with their own peer group growing up. They didnt go to older or younger kids birthdays, they didnt have older or younger cousins to hang out with. And since their parents only had to raise one kid, there was no reason for their parents to dump them on relatives so they stayed relatively isolated from the rest of society. Since their own parents had smaller families, there was less oppertunities to interact with cousins, uncles, or aunties. This means that older and younger generations are a complete mystery tothem. All they know, is what they are told. And what are zoomers told? Young people are stupid/ignorant. Old people are manipulative/evil.
This in turn, created this extremely weird cultural belief among the zoomers that you should only have relationships within your own peer group. They can't comprehend the value of being around older people, and they firmly believe theres no (legitimate) reason to interact with younger ones and anyone who does is up to no good. All because theyve never interacted with other groups. As zoomers got older, they started coming up with insane copes for societies problems, like artifically extending their own childhoods to absolve themselves from responsibility. Zoomers created the meme that 'your brain isnt developed until 26' and things like the 'height of consent' to side step memes like 'loli is a body type' or 'shes actually 3000 years old'. They are an unfortunate generation taught maladeptive survival strategies by a highly corporatized generation that wishes they could just replace them all with forign immigrants because using dirt cheap labor is one of the last ways possible to squeeze out more profit in our failing inflation-fueled economy.

>>2567Free speech is why America sucks. The founding fathers genuinely believed society would be self-regulating. So freedom of speech wouldn’t lead to lying, slander, and shit flinging because people are naturally good hearted and wouldn’t do those things. They were wrong. I can see how some places are like this (e.g. Japan with its strict libel laws) but America is not. Yankees seem to get off on being as insensitive, offensive, and retarded as possible to the most number of people. Look at all the popular mainstream Hollywood movie heroes, they are all assholes, torturers, and murderers or superheros with really warped moral compasses. What kind of society tunes in to see Kiefer Sutherland torture random people as a mainstream popular tv show? A society of morally degraded post-humans who don’t know right from wrong.
Free speech doesn’t even exist anyway. It’s just a facade. People in power will always persecute you for saying the wrong thing. There is nothing stopping them.
No.2619
>>2617Even in its castrated and hypocritical version, free speech is a must for any civilized society because it still eases some forms of societal pressure.
The average american being the bloodthirsty, repressed human shitbull they are doesn't mean it's a bad thing, unfortunately they're fucked up by centuries of puritan and ultranationalistic kool-aid and they think being an abrasive piece of shit is the way to live your life, that doesn't mean we should abolish Free Speech because the people in one part of the world are abominable.
> People in power will always persecute you for saying the wrong thing. Yeah, but that has little to do with free speech either, free speech is the right to VOICE your opinions, that's it, you do not have social immunity for having an opinion that is uncomfortable to some people.
As I see it, the real problem with free speech as of some…four or five decades by now is that with the rise of much better and way more comprehensive surveillance systems some privacy barriers got torn apart and it's much easier for certain people (i.e. the americans) to start shit for reading or seeing something they don't like, what used to be an innocuous and funny semidrunk statement in a bar by a grumpy japanese animator who liked little girls a little too much now got turned into fuel for cultural witch hunts by people who are a bit too eager to hurt others while being very much in denial about their own closet skeletons.
No.2621
>>2617Anon free speech isnt really important, even draconian governments allow free speech. what matters more than anything else in a free society (which also sets it apart from dictatorships), is "freedom after speech" which means that people wont go to jail after they speak out against whoever is in charge.Americans have it really good regarding that matter, as they can insult and cuss orange man as much as they want and not one single agency will reprimand them for it.
Even 4chan allowed some leeway for people to make fun of the jannies whereas in a more traditional forum insulting the mods would result in an instant ban.
Freedom after speech is vital for a healthy society, in its absence people tend to wear more masks than they have to and societal divisions and group loyalty becomes unclear causing distrust and paranoia which (at first) might be beneficial for a ruler who wishes to divide and rule his people, but a low trust society will eventually take its toll on a nation leading to widespread chaos and corruption.which then leads to economic collapse.you can see this phenomena in most third world nations.
Tldr: be grateful for what you have because the alternative is nothing at all.
