So they announced a new Ranma anime being done by MAPPA and I didn't see anyone talking about it so I thought I'd make a thread.

I'm glad they got (most) of the VAs back. Although it strikes me as strange that they didn't get Kenichi Ogata to reprise his role as Ranma's dad, considering he's still active AND has a role in this new remake as well, just as the narrator and not Ranma's dad.

>>689 (OP)It actually looks pretty good. Getting the (living) VAs back is a miracle honestly.

>>694Not really. Sometimes when I post my opinions I leave the tag & name on just in case people are curious what my views are.

The OP seems to have been leaked by the way.
https://litter.catbox.moe/tip152.mp4I like how they did that little intro sequence from the original anime, that was cute.

>>704It's pretty cool. Isn't the music segment around 1:30 based on the OG anime? It sound familiar. I like how the end of the OP is similair to the first OP with the pose.
Never was fan of this style of music so I don't care much about it, but it's animated well, and you can see lots of the adapted episode and design.

This was the first anime I watched back to back as kid. Had to get bootlegged tapes from a Cantonese VHS store. I still have them lying around somewhere. I'd post them but they were basically pirated copies with no fancy boxes or stickers. Ranma was by far my favorite show back then and I still adore it today. Maybe its nostalgia glasses? I enjoyed all but a handful of filler episodes. Its weird seeing shows get remade. It feels strange when you see them again. Its an uncanny feeling. I guess because with live action film remakes they have to use different actors and a different set, whereas anime remakes can feel disturbingly too familiar. They can feel sickening to look at. Like seeing someone you know with a transplanted face. Looks vaguely familiar and sounds the same but different.
I hope they actually manage to finish the story this time and fix a better ending for Ukyo but I'm not looking forward to it. I don't mean to be negative or anything. Just got a lot of stress in my life right now. See you on the other sides lumfrens.

I've only watched the first episode so far and it was okay. It looks like it's going to be a pretty straightforward adaptation. For a second there, I thought it was going to be the same OP as well.

Yeah I agree, I just watched the first ep yesterday and I'm enjoying it. Love the original VAs coming back, they don't sound like they aged a day, the fight scenes are also massively improved over the original, I like how creative they go with camera angles, and I'm still not a fan of the perfectly round nippleless breasts but that's not why we watch Ranma anyway.
I'd say it's probably a better remake than UY was in most aspects, but people really cared when making both.

The remake has exceeded expectations so far tbh.
