This is a thread dedicated to the songs used in the original Urusei Yatsura anime.

The full UY OST is vast and can be listened to on the Internet Archive https://archive.org/details/urusei-yatsura-ost or seeded at https://nyaa.si/view/868533 .

The series is known for it's distinct soundtrack, full of a variety of genres reflective of the diverse Japanese popular music that later came to be known as "city pop", though not all of the tracks necessarily belong to that. Many of the most recognizable tracks from early in the series can be attributed to Shinsuke Kazato and Fumitaka Anzai. Anzai in particular is responsible for the synthesizer laden tracks that define the series, while Kazato's work tended to be more orchestral. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lo_7emKXlHE .

Urusei Yatsura also used outside soundtracks, notably the Beatles inspired Digital Mystery Tour https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gJMlXCGcBw and Masayoshi Takanaka's Finger Dancin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQhSfnx8dfg .
There is also heavy Latin influence in some of the show's most famous themes, like Lum's Love Song and Love Mobius. Later in the series, artists like Steffanie and Cindy brought new influences into the series, such as hard rock.
There's even a series of official UY remixes, including Digital Trip Urusei Yatsura https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mBsiVwUQPaU5LyZfKBwMPfkojCwXbg0Is and Urusei Yatsura Remix (1991) https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLha3ysj0EbYFO6uZeDNdUZThqnC-TMcXb
Here are some interesting interviews with people who worked on the sounds of Tomobiki:

What are your favorite songs from the series?

Urusei Yatsura for the most part has pretty good music but when the anime goes off the rails, that's when the music goes from being "yeah, it's pretty good" to "wait, //this// is in an episodic romcom??"
