>>1707Making the rich guy have a nazi aesthetic is too much, yeah. Rumiko never did that. Aliens conquering humanity by trial via tag is completely tame.
I'm not about censoring it though. And it isn't like I think you can't include references to Nazis in a comedic fashion. I just don't think you should do it to someone else's work. Ultimately, it is simply the biggest nitpick in regards to the changes the anime had done.
Rumiko herself only went on record about not liking the fumi-e joke in the anime. I guess she didn't enjoy a joke that references the torture or murder of a persecuted class in Japanese history.
"Takahashi: There was once an anime episode called "Miss Tomobiki Contest" in Urusei Yatsura. I was like, "Gah!" at that one…
Hirai: They really messed things up, huh? (laughs)
Takahashi: That was a real eye-opener. What was also a bit of a shocking detail was that they had the characters walk across a fumi-e. I don't understand the nerve of that. If the film was good, I would be proud of it, and if it was bad, I would be angry. I don't think of it as the work of a single director. However, if possible, I would like you to take care of the characters."
