>>3141the problem with running an independent site is you have to put in a lot of effort to keep it updated, free of spam and of course it costs money to buy the domain and host. /kind/ here is functionally the same here as it was back then since the old theme and icons were restored. there is also the issue that someone else owns the kindchan.org domain (even if it doesn't point to a anything) and kind.moe is a pretty expensive domain (lowest cost i found was $87 a year)
