https://x.com/ToonamiNews/status/1910815121817117034Sounds like this place enjoys classic anime, so it seems like a natural fit for us. Be cool, chill out, it's a few days til showtime anyway, so try not to embarrass us. Be respectful of our hosts and, where possible, each other.
No.1623
>>1618I just think no one here cares about Toonami, it is just novelty these days when you can watch anime legal and other means in so many ways like they even play better anime on those free smart TV channels meant to emulate cable like Pluto and Roku.
No.1624
>>1623That novelty's kinda the point. It's a block of live TV a group of us have been watching together for years. The live viewing experience is what makes it. When everyone's just watching a show when it comes out, they're not literally watching the same stuff happen at the same time, so reactions are staggered. If you're a moment behind everyone else you'll miss a reaction to a big scene or something, or you'll get spoiled on it. Live is 100% the best way, it just sucks the selection on Toonami isn't as good as it used to be.
It's still fun to hang out and watch, though.

>>1624I get the appeal, I grew up with Toonami but I haven't watched it and years also just kinda moved on from it but maybe you'll get people to watch it with you anon.

>>1618I mean, even on /co/ we had maybe 50 total posters left. A big chunk of them aren’t gonna get the memo that we went elsewhere
And like it or not, I think people prefer the 8chan board
No.1639
>>1627Yeah even compared to just a few years ago Toonami General is really dead. We even struggle to fill one pre game thread, which is basically just for blog posting and chatting until Toonami starts. And only a fraction of that is going to find either here or 8chan.
>>16188chan isn't so bad. I think people like the novelty of having our very own board. But it has been struggling with all the new users, so we might end up here if its down during Toonami.
No.1640
>>1627>>1639the difference 8chan is a soulless mess that combines everyone while this site is much more curated and with much stricter rules so it's a lot better

No.1664
>>1663A few people stopped by asking about where to go, people pointed them to a deadthread ghostposting on desuarchives and the discussion there has been about whether to use this thread or something on 8chan.moe
It sounds like there's more negativity there. Frankly I'd rather stay here if it means avoiding some of our worse elements. Here or even ghostposting on desu are the better options as far as I can tell. If I weren't busy I'd try to do more but hopefully people figure stuff out before midnight.

I like Toonami.
No.1668
Well, either I can't figure out how .moe works or I can't get to it on the wiggy-ass internet I'm currently relegated to using, so here I am. I also can't really stream here either so I have to rely on stuff I downloaded beforehand, which doesn't include Lazarus. But boy howdy once we get to 1 AM I'll sure be able to talk about tv anime.
No.1669
>>1668I wish people were using this thread instead of .moe, the themes here are super cool and it's clear this site was made by someone who cared versus someone who just wanted to make a free for all

You can try 8chan.se or 8chan.cc alternatively, if you want. They all lead to the same place.

Well the big one finally happened, huh? Not much to do about it now. But in all these years of Toonami General, Deep Space Radio hasn't gone away yet. Haven't missed a regular night to date and not about to start now. But this is probably the most adversity set in our path yet. Not only did 4chan die, but currently we are coming to you from the middle of the fucking ocean so internet connectivity is severely hampered. But if you are receiving this signal, know that somehow or another we'll keep it together. We're stuck with each other, for better or worse.
But you don't wanna hear me wax poetic. First though, since we're in a new place I should explain the deal here. So Toonami has a long standing history of philosophical talks and good music (ideally animated music videos but those are a premium) so what I've made a point of doing every week is providing some tunes for the thread in the dead times during Naruto. No more than 5 posts, sometimes more than 5 songs, intended to be unobtrusive but constructive. I used only anime music for the first while but there wasn't enough to go off of after a while. Anyway, I've been doing this since at least 2016, so I hope it's managed to contribute something positive to the threads over all these years.
But you want the music! Well, tonight I've got a weird thing for you that has music in it. Maybe it'll be a miss, but it's struck a weird chord with me and I think it may well strike a chord for some of you guys too. This is an hour-long episode of a radio show done by Elephant Graveyard for NTS's Night Shift. It's interspersed with some really interesting music, like Black Metal by the Russian Futurists, Chlorine by Eamon Grath, and Give Me To The Night by Unto Others (I particularly like that last one). The whole thing is made to feel like some late night oddity, some weird thing you'd listen to when you can't sleep, like Coast to Coast or some weird AM radio thing. The description says it's about insomnia, memory, and the corrosiveness of intrusive thoughts, and it's presented in the story of a dead guy who'd just dicking around after death (and the death might be figurative? Hard to tell.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZqBunlBtn4I really like this thing and hope you guys do too. Maybe it'll strike a chord. Maybe you won't care. But there's a bit where it talks about the value of live radio, how it feels to know there's like a hundred other guys listening to the same thing as you out there, what a primal thing that is, and that really hits me right through the heart. THAT'S what I want Toonami to be. That's what I want THIS to be. We get together every week and there's like, 50 other guys out there all watching this thing to feel a connection, and that's real shit, man. And it means a lot to me. So don't you worry, one way or another we'll be back again next week to do it again. Deep Space Radio, signing off.

(So for the record it's probably because I'm on boat internet that I can't post on 8chan, so if someone would be so kind to pass along my well wishes, I'd appreciate it. Cheers, and good night.)

>>1699>>1700You picked the perfect time for your trip, it seems. Don't worry, Mr. DJ, I'll give everyone your regards. I appreciate your attempts to give everyone audio candy. See you next time, maybe.
No.1703
>>1699Thanks for the tunes, DSR. And I agree. I think it says something that we can routinely explode 2000 posts into the void each week in the span of a few hours. On the internet, we're starved for that human connection, the feeling that you're participating in something that matters. It's too easy to be alone, when the internet is technology meant to connect people.
I truly believe that scheduled programming is superior to self-service streaming in all the ways that matter. I like my alone time, but I don't look forward to it like I look forward to a good watchalong.
