So anyways to talk about why I live Adachi Rei so much. I never particularly cared for synthetic singing umtil I stubled upon one of her songs (I Wanna Shower specifically), I didn't dislike them but never saw a reaspn to prefer it over a real singer, Rei changed thst. By having her be a robot character, snd artists using that angle to explore humanity, it justified synthetic over real singing. It elevated the songs. I love robot characters who explore what it means to be human (like Data and not like Wall-E) in general, and even if not always the point of the song just having it acknowledged makes the lyrics hit much harder for me. It's what I needed to overcome my distate of the format. I Wanna Shower has vecome one of my favorite songs and is a freat example of this. It also appealed to me becasue at the time I was feeling particularly inhuman and litterally hadn't had the opportunity to shower in months. And finally she has a strong daughteru character in the song, something I'm terminally weak to. I wanna protect her and show her the world when I listen to it. Even the silly lyrics about wanting to deal drugs just drive it home, it's wxactly the tuoe random obsessions children get, being naturally hyper impressionable. It was a perfect oneshot to my heart. Some of my other favorite songs of her are Dance Delightful (a simply delightful song in all waus), Gimmick Girl (another good song about wanting to be human), and Eyes and Fingers. I've not deoved deeply into Japanese songs, as someone who places such importance on lyrics there's a big disconnect with foreign music for me.
