Well I think it has fucked me over every time you used it. After trying and failing to block/graze it a dozen times, I'm guessing I'm supposed to hit you. The one time I wanted to try that, you were across the screen and I had no way to even reach you without the mallet

 No.5008

>>5007
yeah, it's fully unblockable/ungrazable. you are meant to hit me out of the start up, but it feels like it has about as much start up as Sakuya's World so if you are not already in position it's just not gonna happen. and unlike Royal Flare it takes basically no setup, so if i see you are out of range you are just boned honestly

funny thing is that it's even more bullshit on Satori because she can set up rose bullets to shield against full screen snipe attempts as well

unironically don't lose neutral, even if you have to take things extremely slowly. fortunately Iku is pretty good at that. once you are in the blender though it's just a constant guessing game until she messes up or you die, there isn't really a safe escape option

also take full advantage of the fact that Veils lets you reset back to neutral at will

Yeah, Iku feels even slower than Yuyu since not only her sustained speed is rather low but she doesn't have relatively fast burst movement like Yuyu either. Her techs are also rather gruelling, basically guaranteed oki for anyone.

GGs, thanks for playing. I don't know how to play Alice without soku dolls, she's a completely different character. The fact that dolls don't lead to combos anymore and even no longer aim at the opponent trips me up way too much.

>not sure if Alice has guardcrushes here

Apparently, she's the best IaMP character because of her guardcrush potential. Wiki says she has three inescapable loops that lead to crushes from 100% spirit. Twice the bullshit, half the fun (because dolls suck).

it's a character specific combo and it barely works on like half the base roster. doesn't work on Remi so i'm 99% sure it won't work Flan either. unless you intend to learn character-specific optimal combos, it's not worth using that route. just do full dial A > 66A > 623B. it's also hard but at least you won't get completely screwed over if you miss the dial A > 66A link. and you get more consistent dial A combos in the corner as well

 No.5098

>>5097
>it's a character specific combo
Figures. There weren't any notes under that specific combo in the wiki so I fully trusted it was an execution problem, but JUST NOW I see that there's a chart showing who the combos can work with. Yeah I'll go with your advice, I'm just learning her as a side thing anyways

i'm growing convinced that such a thing doesn't exist, i'd like to say i have a best character but then i'll go and lose with her only to win the next game with Cirno or something like that

by now it's probably more of a matter of counterpicking rather than choosing a comfort pick

Also yeah that tourney Cirno accident was rather funny, but I guess not many people know the matchup, or anything about Cirno at all lol. I guess being able to counterpick fir both character and player matchup can be huge advantage if you can play entire cast at decent level.

>I'm still unable to keep neutral safe and win air duels.
honestly you are on the right track, but you really really need to learn to deal with character ranges though. you can't play at Alice j6A range the same way you would against, say, Cirno. same in the Iku mirrors. each character has a different threat range that conditions when you are able to graze and when you should back out/block or even force a whiff if you already know what's coming. against Cirno that's basically a non-factor because her melee range is non-existent, and your gameplan ended up being pretty effective

 No.5182

>>5181
I've been watching replays and some other iku players and somehow they know how to keep it safe while flying and don't get hit often, my main focus know is to learn how to actually do that, but I keep failing at it
The situation I see often is trying to escape a corner by D8 and D6, but I get caught by any character's j8a, sometimes in the center of the stage.
I mean you are right I'm not really treating each character differently but since there are no guides about how to approach each character I'm stuck with my own creativity.

 No.5183

>>5182
Iku is kinda privileged in that sense because her range is fucking huge so she has the advantage against most characters. even against Alice, she plays at basically the same range but just does it better because j2A is faster and easier to land cancel than Alice j6A, so it's way more spammable

you really want to keep in mind the opponent's melee range when grazing, and that's not just the range of individual moves but also approach options like Aya/Marisa hj7 j5A. if you are within that range then you really shouldn't be grazing so freely anymore, unless you got good bullet cover. Iku can usually throw a preemptive land cancel j2A to fend off opponents at that range though, and that's how she zones out more effectively. if you look at replays or matches try looking for interactions like that so you can see them in action. if you are not in position to land cancel then you'll probably have to block or get ready to BE out

>are point-blank bullets actually good in an air-to-air fight or am I just bad at grazing?
not "good" but they sort of force you to mix up your graze timing, so if you just fly on autopilot to simply reach me then i'll usually cancel into a bullet special to punish whatever melee aerial you'll try to throw at me. it's easy to counter because you just have to hold flight for a tiny bit longer, but then again if you just hold flight preemptively i'll probably have time to airdash cancel into a melee or something
