> Yuyuko is like a improved version of Iku, her melee and zoning attacks are faster and somehow have better range than herThey are generally slightly faster, but definitely don't have more range especially in air and much less safer than Iku's. Check Iku's hitboxes again, quite significant portion of them is disconnected but still hits, you gotta use this extra reach.

you really gotta watch out for all those whiffs, melee buttons are not meant to be spammed recklessly like bullets unless you are land cancelling them every time. i think you want to j6A anti-air me but that has to be done on reaction, that thing lasts like one full second so the moment you whiff that you are either forced to block bullets or deal with my approach at best, or simply get punished at worst
same with 66A and most other melees
No.3574
>>3572Since she's slow and I have to anticipate them, I'm trying to read you but I failed haha.
No.3576
>>3574yeah but it's precisely because she is slow that whiffing is so terrible for you
slows moves like that aren't really made to gamble, they usually only work when you have cover to make you safe or if you are doing it on reaction and you're sure it's gonna land
No.3578
>>3576I know I know, it's just feels like you are never safe in the game even if the opponent is at the other side of the screen, they could graze your cover in seconds and reach you before you could melee them (especially characters that have melee attacks that graze). I rather gamble and fail than not do anything and still fail.

Two things, on that last Suwako game I wanted to catch you with the drill spellcard ad I saw you doing 44D, how did you manage to block it? It's a melee attack against a dash, or is suwako more safe to do that than Iku?
Second, how do I safely do this jump with Iku?, at any distance it seems like you could hit me first, is it because you read me and you would do it first therefore having priority?
The image blue square throws a bullet (5B, 5C, 6C) at you hoping that you would graze jump it so I could either hit you foward, or I could go backwards and try a defensive melee as well (even just blocking) I can't never seem to land this one consistently, feels like luck to get a hit with this.
I'm trying to do it as fast as I can, and the one that works the best is 6A as it's the fastest frame wise IIRC.

>I wanted to catch you with the drill spellcard ad I saw you doing 44D, how did you manage to block it?that wasn't 44D, it was a regular backwalk. i was simply blocking the entire time. Suwako does that little backwards leap animation when walking backwards but she isn't backdashing, her actual backdash makes her dive underground which is extremely punishable
>is it because you read me and you would do it first therefore having priority?pretty much, yeah. it's really common for people to high jump cancel everything and anything whenever they can so it's not hard to punish that as soon as i see them using a bullet within range. if you get caught by that too often you can try not cancelling the move instantly so i'll end up whiffing instead, if you got a hard read you can even punish with a spell or whatever else. you can sometimes hj9 and hit me first but that's quite character dependent and is always a bit risky
>>3836ggs too, hope we can play a longer set some time. i feel i could learn a lot from that

would be helpful if you posted an example of that, there are way too many different scenarios to cover them all
No.3866

No.3867
>>3866yeah as i said there are too many scenarios so i can't really tell what it is. usually if i know i'm playing a character with faster frame data then i'll mash asap since i'm fairly certain i'll win. same if i land outside of your 2A range, since you can only hit me with f5A which is super slow so i'll also win. if i know you landed first and have an advantage because of that then i'll usually block instead so at least i won't get hit in those situations. but other than that it's hard to go into specifics without knowing the exact instance

>>3875at that point it's a matter of personal judgement. it's impossible to tell exactly how many frames earlier/later than the opponent you'll land. even if you could, the outcome also depends on the opponent's own frame data as well. against characters like Tenko or Patchy for example it's a pretty safe exchange. against Aya or Meiling though, not as much
if you are not sure then it's probably better to play it safe and block, yes

>>3880ggs, thanks for playing
if you keep getting caught in that situation that often maybe you should avoid using a bullet at that range altogether. if you are close enough that i can catch your high jump with hj9 j5A then it probably means your close to j2A range so it might be better to try to do IAD j2A or something like that instead. if you are outside of my range then you can still throw out those bullets safely. also there might be some confirmation bias going on because you did manage to punish my jump in attempts a few times as well

Man how is Yuyuko so fast?? I can't corner her at all, she has like 3 wakeup attacks and so much frame advantage on her pokes (which hit far), if I try to play her from distance she has those fuck huge lasers, so fucking broken……

> Man how is Yuyuko so fast?? I can't corner her at allNo offence but that's major skill issue, Yuyu is hellishly slow in her movement.
> she has like 3 wakeup attacks and so much frame advantage on her pokesAmount of wakeup attacks actually shouldn't matter since on wakeup you have all frame advantage in the world to land a hit on first standing frame, it's just that Yuyu has rather ambiguous wakeup animation especially without tech, so it's a huge noobtrap I also get caught in often with other characters as well. You have to believe your internal timer rather than eyes.

all good, it's hard to notice some things in the heat of the moment so yeah it will probably be more useful once you check the replays later
>Also do you recommend the electrical drill over the normal drill?i like lightning drill more, it's a bit harder to use more effectively but it's a really strong skill. at some ranges it is completely tight into hj9 > j6C which can lead into very oppressive resets and i think once you level it up the opponent can't even BE between hits. losing your only good melee cancel means you have to get good at BE chases though, otherwise you won't get much mileage off of it
