RPGMaker, H-games too, probably fall under the purrview of this thread-nya.
I really enjoyed Astlibra although it dragged a bit near the end. One dude, 14 years or something of dev time. I recommend playing at least 3-4 chapters of it to everyone. (I ended up using some cheats near the end…)

Astlibra may be the greatest game I've ever played I put in over 500 hours

I'll recommend Legend of Dark Witch, very cute and fun 2hu-inspired series of Mega Man clones with Tales-style NG+ options, minigames, and RPG spin-offs. Zizou best girl

I recently started another RPG Maker binge, and finally played Tobira no Densetsu. For the most part, I think it's alright. It very much is a product of its time, with obtuse mechanics and things that are very unintuitive, but I also believe it's a very commendable passion project. The amount of content is just baffling, and I feel you don't see many people putting that much stuff into their personal project anymore.
I'm currently going through the Towelket series again. There are quite a few gems here and there (Laughing Warawau, Dekapari, Wonder Girl Nekoashi Otome, Towelket 1…), and I'm surprised I don't see these games recommended more often.
I'm wondering what should I check next. I already played my fair share of Yume Nikki & Fangames, as well as some of the most classic horror games (Misao, Mad Father), but I was wondering if perhaps there's anything you guys had in mind. I remember a lot of people were recommending OFF in the past, and I didn't quite like the way the game looked… not because of the graphics themselves, there's just something about the presentation I really just didn't dig. But perhaps it's time to give it a chance.

It's really nice seeing someone else talking about these games. I've been a fan for a very long time. It's pretty hard to sell people on these games for some reason.

Even when you do get someone to check them out they rarely ever get past the first few games. Which sucks because some of the best game in the series come much later

I managed to convince some people to play through the series, but I get what you mean. I suppose the number of games scares people away, because otherwise, I can't even understand why these games aren't more popular. I even insist that people just skip a few entries just to get someone to pay the later games, to no luck… I believe those are on par (if not better in some cases) than a lot of other RPG Maker games than people usually recommend. Laughing Warawau easily could be a great classic, yet you don't really read much about these games online? At most you see some fanart, but other than that, it feels like these games are obscure just because people haven't managed to go past the original trilogy.

Unfortunately not a whole lot of people are really into rpgmaker games nowadays even though the games themselves feel really ahead of their time.

The translations have been coming out fast too so maybe that will grab someone's attention out there. Maybe.
