>>324I've noticed that about Nichijou too, that everyone generally behaves in a fairly grounded, human way - aside from the parts where reactions etc. are intentionally exaggerated for comic effect (goat suplex, every time anything explodes). It's especially noticeable when you contrast it to something like, I don't know, GJ-bu maybe, where the characters' personalities are so rooted in archetypes you pretty much need a fair bit of existing familiarity with the SoL genre to understand them.
Never actually watched Azumanga yet, it's on the to-watch list but I'm worried it'll be a bit Seinfeld Syndrome if all the CGDCT shows that followed it nicked the good ideas from it and did them to death.
What do you think of Arawi's other manga, CITY? From what I've read so far (first 4 volumes) it seems on par with Nichijou quality-wise. It starts off feeling quite slice of life-y and episodic but gradually all the chapters kind of interlink into an actual story progression.
