I stopped reading 1-2 years ago but Nue and Kagurabachi are worth checking out. Nue is a fun LN harem-like with a cool way of "worldbuilding", the author probably has an autistic list of notes (but it isn't explained very well). Kagurabachi's style is unmatched and is very visually inventive, and the first 2 long arcs (chapters 10-40?) are literarily impressive.

I only still read One Piece and HXH when it returns. I was thinking of reading the rakugo series but never did start it. I do occasionally read some of the older series though. I'm reading Hell Teacher Nube right now.

I think weekly manga are kind of annoying to read. Maybe it's just reading OP for so long and its pacing being shit though.

I think Akanebanashi is really quite mediocre. It's one of those manga that doesn't deserve an anime imo (like Witch Watch, Roboco, and so on). Jump is letting all these low-effort series get anime because they just have nothing else.
You should read World Trigger and Gintama.

Hating a manga/anime is one thing, but what's much worse is being DISAPPOINTED with one.
There's a lot you like and a lot you dislike….
Post shit that disappointed you, preferably with your reasoning.
For me, Rosavam was a disappointment. Incoming wall of text that I wrote down like two months ago when I read the manga.

Anime/manga itself is disappointing. The art form never reaches its full potential. Always held back by slop consuming otaku and American cultural vultures, destroying all beauty with their fetish for predictable templates and cookie cutter formalism. True one-dimensional men flattening out the art into joyless masturbation in a simulated consumer reality, a true opium of the people that numbs their senses to a cruel, oppressive, and harsh world they refuse to do anything about beyond whining. I am disappointed by all anime/manga by default.

Ameku Takao no Suiri Karute was a disappointment. Despite a novel setting for an anime, it feels this show couldn't decide between being an absurd and silly or a serious detective anime. Takao is also a terrible detective and they \wheel out a generic cop dressed as Columbo who happens to be a brainlet as if to imply Takao is better than the greatest TV detective of all time. Many of the cases feel uninspired or absurd too. Somehow a man is able to lift a T-Rex jaw from a museum and use it to amputate a leg by himself. I would have liked a nice medical themed anime but instead we got Sherlock Holmes level slop except with a cute girl and a bunch of silly seasonal anime stock tropes.

 No.655

If there was one I liked but was soured by disappointment it had to be To Your Eternity. I feel like it should've ended with volume 12 and the modern period be an epilogue. It's a much more natural endpoint following a great climax than going into a school arc.

You can't really do the patron system either with such a collaborative medium, because even if some eccentric guy with money to burn wanted to give someone money to produce an anime HE thought was worth it it's then a matter of guaranteeing none of the couple dozen other staff members are fuckups

Its because MGX is way less easily digestible than Watamote is, with its at times cold and mysterious (ha) heroine, the surreal imagery, and the inherent weirdness of the central premise.
Watamote is, by contrast, uncontroversial, and since I don't want to start a flame war I'll leave it at that.

I'm glad I watched MyGO as it was airing, it was mediocre but at least the threads didn't really treat it as much more than that for the first half of airing. If I'd watched it after all the niwaka praise it probably would've been a huge disappointment, especially when the main source of praise is the badly written drama.

Uzumaki was probably the best recent disappointment as it was as a group. The first episode set some standards that weren't quite met and it's nice that everyone had to go through it aside from the blind.

I found this obscure manga yesterday called Golondrina and binged all of the translated chapters. I love finding these unknown manga but it also sucks because they're usually not fully translated. I'll learn japanese eventually but that takes time

Yougen no Chi has 3 chapters left for Volume 4 before the series went on hiatus as far as I'm aware, but I couldn't find raws and the TL group seemed to have dropped this. A shame because I really enjoyed this.

For the longest time I've been wanting to make a thread for Bee Train anime, so I've decided to finally get around to it. Kouchi Mashimo's "hospital for animators" is probably most well known for their "Girls With Guns" trilogy: Noir, Madlax, and El Cazador de la Bruja, but have several other lesser known series like Avenger, Tsubasa Chronicle, and the .hack series.

Have you anons been watching any Bee Train anime lately? Do you have a favorite?

Hey anon. No hope you're still around, but how do you feel about Cal? Why did Reiji rush things so much? Really what stopped him from at least checking in once? The Cal was just waiting there while he fled without looking back. Maybe because of Elen? Still that part felt so wrong. And the way Cal appears later tore my heart, it was so sad.

 No.536

>>214
Sometimes I think about starting Noir again until I remember that I have to listen to that fucking awful OP. Rest of the soundtrack is good though, as usual for Kajiura.

 No.601

>>514
I'm still here. And I agree, Cal deserved better.
He should have made more of an effort to search for her after the apartment bombing, rather than assuming that she was dead. Perhaps Elen had his focus and the trauma of being reunited with someone he thought was dead while at the same time losing someone else was overwhelming?

It reminds me a little bit of the relationship between Mireille/Kirika/Chloe in Noir. What happened to Chloe in the end was sad, I remember being heartbroken when I first saw it. But one of the key differences being the Noir trio were fulfilling the centuries-old prophecy of a secret society.
And the Phantom of Inferno visual novel came out a year before Noir, so I'm sure that influenced it heavily.

I've been thinking about the rules the Haibane are supposed to live by. What do all these rules share? They are all things you either must do or are not supposed to do with your body. We generally don't think about our bodies that much but its pretty clear that even simple ways of sitting, standing, and walking are learned and become a habit to the point we don't even think about them. Many societies have developed sophisticated techniques of the body e.g. yoga, Taoist sex practices, Buddhist vinaya or even mundane things like boxing, wrestling etc. but for us this has become a faded concept, besides sport. We're generally told that (as long as we don't break the law) it doesn't matter what we do with our bodies, we can be good people despite how we dress, eat, who we sleep with. Techniques of the body aren't aimless. They are meant to achieve something e.g. escape from the cycle of rebirth or becoming a champion athlete. I wonder what the purpose is for the Haibane? It can't just be the day of flight. I guess its also an attitude to life? An emotional state?

Part of me wants to try living by Haibane rules to see what it does to you. I can't exactly work for free and not handle money and the walls rule doesn't apply so maybe its a bit of a pointless exercise? There are abandoned buildings nearby and I can go to thrift stores for clothes, but obviously the walls thing doesn't apply and there's no way I can just work for free and not handle any money so maybe its a pointless exercise?

Haibane Renmei isn't that deep really. Its just a nice show.

 No.526

Nice? It's probably in top 10 if not in top 5 anime in its atmospheric niche. The only other I can name without thinking is Mushishi, though I am certain I saw at least one or two more that would qualify. Probably Girls' Last Tour among them..? My memory is a mess.
