Criterion's streaming service has been adding anime recently. I hope they add more to their channel, as it's a nice way for people to be exposed to it.

Note:
1. The site is hard to search for an outsider who isn't signed in.
2. It's filtered by country, for instance Gunbuster the movie is not available in Canada.
3. They have only a small selection of retro /cel/ anime, but I hope it grows.

Technically not the first time the criterion collection dealt with anime, since there is the Akira laserdisc release, but this just a bizarre selection to start off with.
>The K-On movie, which only really works if you see the entire series, and arguably wasn't necessary at all considering the second season already had two great ending points.
>The Gunbuster movie instead of just the OVA itself.
>SAC instead of the first film when everything else is movies

Garden of Words is fine although not my first pic for Shinkai, and I can't comment on the Gatchaman film or Tamala as I've never seen them, though the Gatchaman film is more of a recap/edit like the Gundam movies base don the description?

Admittedly I haven't paid much attention to the Criterion Collection in years after I first tried to expand my tastes when it came to movies more, and while the most recent additions seem to be questionable. I don't know how this would change things in anyway. Especially since the usual methods still work
