Taihou Shichauzo!! or You’re Under Arrest!! is far and away incredible.One of my favorite anime of all time is Aa! Megami-sama! or Oh!! My Goddess.I also really recommend the 1999 Digimon Adventure series, I watched it as a kid, and had a massive crush on Kari, Tai’s little sister.

I can recommend Record of Lodoss War if you like fantasy. It's considered one of the founding fathers of the genre in Japan, as far as I know.Or, if you want to get silly with it, there's a channel on Youtube called "CCM11" that's posted a bunch of anime from the 1920's and 30's.
